Tips to Market your Startup for FREE

When you are starting a new business you want to shout it from the roof tops with excitement to let everyone know about your new venture, but sadly most startups don’t have much of a marketing budget if any, so here are a few tips to start you off.

Networking

Meeting local businesses at networking events can be daunting but if you find the right networking group for you, it can be a great way to cast your net wider than you’d think. This is because once you are settled into a regular meeting you will find that your new contacts will also spread the word and a referral is the best form of advertisement. If you are based in the North-West I would recommend @Networx it’s a relaxed atmosphere plus they serve a great breakfast!

Get social & sharing

Get your business on social media if you’re not already, the three best platforms for business are Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. An app to plan your posts makes life easier, I’d recommend Buffer. Once you are up and running join business groups where the members have interests related to your products and services and then get sharing your page, a special offer always makes promoting easier.

DIY Flyers

If you don’t have professional photos of your business offering then set up your own photo shoot. Once you have the images you can create your own multi image with text on the app Canva. As soon as you are happy with the look you can order high quality print at cheapest print online.co.uk online where 1000 A6 6×4 on card is only £24. Once they arrive, you can use them as a postcard to do a mailshot or leave them in various business related premises.

Mailchimp

Set up a mailing list with mailchimp, it’s free for a list of up to 3000 contacts and they have lots of easy to use templates. You can create a subscribe link set up to your website and on social media…the best part is that they are fully GDPR compliant.

Reviews

As we were saying earlier, referrals are the best form of advertising, so let’s not forget about the virtual world. Always ask your customers to give you reviews on Facebook and Google, make it as easy as possible for them either with a link or by giving them a tablet in store to review there and then.

Wishing you all the best on your startup journey.
